Kings Add Briscoe, Pion Moved to CCHL

A familiar face is coming back to the Dauphin Kings when the team kicks off a two-game road trip tomorrow in Portage.

Ian Briscoe played 22 games last year for the Kings, and started this season with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL, but was released yesterday, and is now on his way to Dauphin.

In those 22 games last season, Briscoe was an offensive force, putting up 16 points, six of which were goals. In 24 games this year with the Thunderbirds, Briscoe had three points.

"He can play on the middle or on the right wing," said Interim Head Coach and GM of the Kings, Mitch Giguere. "He will be one of our main guys and will be able to show the way for the young guys on the team on how to be a great player."

Briscoe will make the quick transition from the WHL to MJHL, as he will make his debut this season for the Kings tomorrow night.

"I don't have any expectation for him tomorrow," said Giguere. "I just want to see him play and see what kind of player he is. We all know he's fast and skilled. I can't wait to see him play."

The Kings also made one more deadline day deal, trading Danny Pion to the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the CCHL.

"He asked us right after the holidays to be traded," said Giguere. "He was homesick, and he's already committed to a University in the Ottawa area."

Coming back the Kings way is Future Considerations.
