Gilbert Plains Riese Gaber and Team Canada West are Champions as they beat the United States earlier today in the Gold Medal game at the World Jr.A Challenge.
After placing fifth last year, Canada West started this year's tournament with two straight losses but then rebounded in winning three straight to capture the Championship over the US, 5-1.
The Canadians were outshot heavily, 36-19 in the game and went 0-2 on the powerplay, but they capitalized when they had the opportunity, and Zach Rose was stellar in net making 35 saves, and if the Gold Medal wasn't sweet enough for Rose, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Gilbert Plains Riese Gaber was held off the scoresheet but did provide one point for the Canadians and several chances throughout the tournament.
