It's just the third meeting between the Dauphin Kings and Swan Valley Stampeders this season, but it's an important one as the Kings hope to get back into the playoff picture when the team's hookup tonight at Credit Union Place.
The Kings enter the evening 10 points behind the Stamps and are 14 back of a playoff spot, but come in playing good hockey, and are coming off one of their biggest comebacks of the season in a 6-5 shootout win last Friday.
If the Kings do want to make a playoff push, tonight's game is one the team needs to get points in as the Stamps are one place higher then the Kings and are just four points out of a playoff spot.
In the team's one meeting here in Dauphin, the Stamps scored a late third-period goal to beat the Kings 2-1 on October 17, and one week prior on October 10, the Kings beat the Stamps, 2-1 in Swan River.
Tonight's game is the second last for the Kings before the Christmas break as they will head to Swan tomorrow to take on the Stamps in the final game before the break.
