If the past week wasn't good enough for Gilbert Plains Riese Gaber after winning gold at the World Jr.A Challenge, it just got better, as Gaber was invited to the CJHL Prospects Game that takes place on January 23.
"I'm obviously really excited," said Gaber. "It all happened really quick. I just saw it on Twitter, so I was a little surprised to see my name on there, but it's a great feeling."
The trip to Mississauga won't only feature the Prospects Game, but it will also include an off-ice and on-ice session prior to the game, which will include scouts from all over the hockey world, including the NHL, CHL, NCAA and Canadian universities and colleges.
"Obviously you don't have much time to make an impression with just one game," said Gaber. "I expect myself to do some things that show myself, and I want to leave a really good impression out there."
Gaber who had 21 points in 27 games for the Dauphin Kings this season, is now set to join the Steinbach Pistons after the Christmas break and is also set to head to Western Michigan University to play Div.1 hockey for the Broncos in two years.
"I just need to keep playing the way I am," said Gaber. "Before I go there, I want to be in a good groove, and feeling confident in my play."
In total, the Prospects Game will feature 38 extremely talented individuals looking to impress scouts, and the game takes place on January 23 in Mississauga at 7:30 p.m. ET.
