For the fifth time this season, the Dauphin Kings and Winnipeg Blues will hook up, with this afternoon's game being a part of the MJHL Showcase at Bell MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg, which is the home of the Blues.
The Kings come into the game with a 3-2 record in their last five games and will be looking for revenge on the Blues after falling 6-5 against them on December 2 in a game they led by two goals on two separate occasions in the third period.
The two teams have put together one of the closest regular-season series possible in four prior games. The Kings won the regular-season opener, 4-1, but then fell 5-4, 2-1 and 6-5, and all the wins were come from behind wins from the Blues.
14 points separate the Blues and Kings in the standings, with the Kings on the outside looking in, while the Blues hold the seventh spot, all be it by two points.
Danny Pion comes in as the hottest King. The Gatineau, Quebec native had seven points in three games last week which earned him "Player of the Week" honours, and overall since joining the Kings, he has 11 points in five games, which has helped the team in playing some of their best hockey of the season.
This afternoon's game is the first of two at the Showcase for the Kings, and due to the early 3:00 p.m. start today and tomorrow, CKDM will not broadcast either of the games.
The next broadcast right here on 730CKDM is this Friday, as the Kings head to Neepawa to take on the Natives.
