Ochre River's Hanne Jensen Wins Susan Galbraith Junior Sportsmanship Award!

It was a great weekend for Ochre River's Hanne Jensen as not only did she take part in the Canola Growers junior Provincial Championships over the Christmas break, but she was awarded the Susan Galbraith Junior Sportsmanship Award.

Every female curler at the event voted on who they thought should win the award, and Hanne was the one most voted for.

"It meant so much to me," said Jensen. "I told my parents that this award probably meant the most to me."

Jensen curled on a team from Winkler, and the foursome went 4-3.

"I gained so much throughout the week," said Jensen. "It was my first year playing third there, and I loved it so much. We were one game away from making at least a tiebreaker, so it stung a little bit, but we ended the week on a high note. It was so much fun, and I can't wait for next year."

Jensen will now curl locally, all in preparation as she hopes to return back to the Championships next year.

"I'm going to put all my effort into this," said Jensen. "Seeing how close we were this year, shows how real it is that we could be team Manitoba one day. So, I'll put all my effort in, and hopefully one of my goals will come true."

Shae Bevan went on to win the Canola Growers junior Women's Provincial Championships.
